Why Does My A/C System Freeze?

Why Does My A/C System Freeze?

Has your air conditioning system shown signs of freezing? Ice build-up on an A/C unit is the symptom of other potential problems occurring within the system. If you notice icing, shutting the air conditioning system off is recommended, but keep the fan on. The circulating air will help to defrost the frozen areas and prevent further damage.

Check the air filter to ensure it's clean, and change/clean it if needed. Sometimes restricted airflow can cause the unit to overexert and freeze.

If the air filter is clean and the airflow seems sufficient, yet the system is still freezing up—it's time to call in the pros. There could be refrigerant issues or other system problems that will require a professional to resolve.

Call the HVAC Professionals with any of your air conditioning needs!
